I don't know, Cat. I'm pretty happy about this situation, all things considered. Ever heard of The Monkey's Paw?

[ There was clearly more to their conversation than that, but that was something Peter had to say in response to the mention of aliens and zombies. He can't count a single dull moment while on the job these past few weeks, so the prospect of fighting just ninjas feels like God's throwing him a bone. And sure, it started out more Matt's problem than his, but that's the thing about responsibility. Peter believes in Matt. Hell, he keeps wanting to believe in Felicia. And perhaps their helping hand - so to speak - will resolve all this before, say, an entirely different villain with an entirely different agenda blows up a bank or something.

For a second, Peter imagines what it would've been like if his spider-sense went off right before Felicia's bag hit the floor. It's just been that long of a day that he's now captivated by his own intrusive thoughts, but he's got enough presence of mind to nod at Felicia's words. Coffee, huh? ]

We'll have to find place worth checking out for that to happen. I've had almost every mocha in town at least once.

[ Never mind that he just finished and disposed of a cup of coffee before she got here. The less she knows the better? ]

"The Monkey's Paw" is a story, by the way. Not the relic. A tale of the "careful what you wish for" variety.

[ Because if any of these ninjas turns out to be a Skrull or an agent of Mephisto or something, Peter's gonna lose it. ]

What's actually at stake is some kind of ancient decorated egg. Anthropologists chalk it up to a long-extinct species of dinosaur, but I bet one trip to the Savage Land will change their minds.

Also, yeah. The Hand wants it, Daredevil doesn't want them to have it. All I need to know.

Other than the fact that a reproduction is what's on display in the museum across the street from the construction site.

I have a theory the Hand are making some kind of secret tunnel through the sewers connecting their little front to the museum. The place's got a sublevel containing the genuine articles of their rarest finds... which I'm sure you already know.

[ She is Felicia, after all. And much more than "careful what you wish for" at the moment, Peter can't help associating her with "old habits die hard." How can he be certain she won't just abscond with his coffee?

Facetious thoughts aside, he points at her in warning, though the gesture's about as severe as ever. Which is to say, it totally isn't. ]

This'll be a goldmine for you, but promise me you'll stick to the egg.
